B. Ayesha: How long have you been in business (anniversary)?
Avalaura: 9 Years- Opened November 2005
B. Ayesha: How did you get started in this business?
Avalaura: In 2005 I was working at a job I despised. I was wearing my Clark Kent suit as a social worker directing an outpatient mental health clinic. For those of you who don’t know Clark Kent, if you watch Superman, you know Superman’s persona or human identity is Clark Kent- the awkward shy, reporter, however, is true purpose, calling and mission was to be Super Man. So I was in my persona, pretending to be just a social worker. I was still in the process of discovering my purpose. I tried to do things the long hard way, by myself- which I definitely do not recommend. But what happened is the more I began discovering who I truly was, the more I hated my job and the worst things seemed to get. I had no tolerance for the drama at work. I went to a weekend spiritual retreat, I had time to unplug, take care of myself, pray and meditate. I found myself literally crying and praying out to God to save me. I was so miserable and I couldn’t take it anymore. I went back to work on Monday after my retreat- my boss asked me to stay late because he needed to speak with me and he fired me and gave me severance pay.
Now let me be clear- I was pissed! I had never been fired from a job in my life. I couldn’t believe that this man who I busted my butt for would fire me out of the blue for no reason. I was in shock. Yet at the same time I was relieved because I knew it was an answered prayer. I got home in tears, told my husband, he gave me a hug, let me cry on his shoulders and said to me Avalaura, isn’t this what you wanted? Now you get to focus on what you really love. Now you can open Avalaura’s Healing Center. I opened my business about 6 months later in November and I’ve never looked back.
B. Ayesha: What are the biggest issues for running this business?
Avalaura: As an entrepreneur, I strive to continuously identify and meet the needs of the high powered, professional women in leadership I serve, while meeting my own needs and the needs of my family. I make sure to practice what I preach and care for myself daily so I can continue to pour into my clients and not lose myself in the process.
B. Ayesha: What is the future for this type of business?
Avalaura: I know that as long as people long to live a better life, crave more than just mere day to day survival, desire to live in the flow of passion and purpose and embrace all that they are to live their most incredible life, I will never go out of business. There will always be a place for businesses that serve the needs of individuals who desire to heal, transform and live the life of their dreams.
B. Ayesha: Running your own business can become overwhelming at times. What motivates you to keep going?
Avalaura: I work with high powered, mission driven women in leadership who feel called to do big, great and meaningful work in the world and for whatever reason, they’re either not doing it or worse, they’re doing it unfulfilled. I help them live a freedom-focused life and detox themselves from limiting beliefs that no longer serve them to create an unrecognizable reality living in the flow of passion, purpose and greatness!
My responsibility as a Healer, Certified Life Coach and Spiritual Counselor is to engage with my clients from my intuition so I can tap into their intuition. Because it’s not about what guidance and navigation they don’t have, its about what they have not tuned into.
We all have the power to create positive action and right direction in our lives. But will we choose to create a habit of inner peace, passion, happiness, confidence and self love? And the only way that habit can happen is if we begin to release and let go of the idea of success as we have known it. I help my clients through their breakdowns, to break open to breakthrough so they can truly live their best life.
B. Ayesha: What advice would you give other aspiring entrepreneurs?
Avalaura: As an entrepreneur for over 9 years and spiritual life coach that works with many aspiring entrepreneurs, I’ve discovered that your business is a reflection of you. Whatever is happening in your life will positively or negatively influence your business. For example, if you do not know how to have healthy relationships or maintain healthy boundaries, you can easily have these same problems with clients or the people you serve. Often times, entrepreneurs focus on doing a business plan, a marketing strategy and how to run a successful business. However it is equally important to work on yourself personally and make sure that you have healed and overcome your own personal blockages and breakdowns that sabotage your business success. I know many entrepreneurs earning a great income, but are emotionally, spiritually and physically bankrupt. Transformation occurs from the inside out. Spend as much time preparing yourself internally as you do externally. The more you work on yourself, the happier, more at peace and more successful you will be.
B. Ayesha: Is there anything else you would like my readers to know about you and/or your business?
Avalaura: To achieve what we want in life, we have to do things we do not want to do; the things that most people will never do. Discipline is being laser focused on your ultimate goal and sacrificing whatever it takes to accomplish it. When I think about serving God, assisting women and individuals to live their best life and being the best and highest version of myself; I get inspired, motivated, fired up and focused. This vision for my life gets me up in the morning and keeps me up late at night. It humbles me and drives me to keep going every single day until I achieve my goals. And once I achieve those goals, I go back to the drawing board and set new higher ones. I love living in the flow of power, passion and purpose while helping my amazing clients do the same. I pray this is the legacy I leave in the world.
