Hola BAye Hive Tribe!!
It's Thursday! Welcome to the Adventures of this Awkward Black Girl!
When I first started my business; I was soooo excited! I had everything planned out. I was always thinking forward. I loved what I was doing! So what happened?
Have you ever just had life issues pile on top of you like a barrel of bricks? Well, that's what happened to me. I'm definitely not ashamed to say that I let becoming ill and other factors deter me from my goals.
Being sick is definitely an excuse for having to change your life routines and how much energy you put into what you love to do. Do you agree? However, sometimes we let our illnesses win and we have got to take back control.
I know there is someone out there that needs motivation, as do I. It's super easy to let setbacks stop you from making a great comeback.
So how do we keep the motivation when life's trials and tribulations weigh us down? GET UP! Like you literally have to tell yourself everyday. Get up! You have shit to do and it doesn't include lying in this bed all day. You (WE) have to practice mind over matter.
So think of it like exercise for the brain. The same way people get up every day and go to the gym; WE have to train our brains to get up and get moving. Don't get me wrong, though, you have to know your limitations.
This is where mindfulness comes into play. A lot of people think that Mindfulness is just some meditation and we don't have time for that mess, right? Being mindful is being self aware. Being mindful is being vigilant. Being mindful takes practice the same way you practice for any other discipline.
Okay, so what the heck is Mindfulness? The Oxford Dictionary definition of Mindfulness is: A mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
We not only have to be in the moment for ourselves but in the moment for everything that is happening around us. We acknowledge our limitations and then we figure out how to work around them.
Does this post hit home for you? Let's work together to be mindful, diligent, consistent and vigilant. Are you down?
So what do you guys think? Drop your questions and/or comments below!
