I'm pleased to introduce to you Kishka Gooden, Owner of Kishmon Services, LLC.
Kishka: Kishmon Services, LLC.
Bina: Where are you located?
Kishka: Midlothian, VA
Bina: How long have you been in business (anniversary)?
Kishka: Since 2013
Bina: How did you get started in this business?
Kishka: I initially started as a part time job/side hustle. In 2019, I quit my job and decided to pursue my business full-time. I love the freedom I now have.
Bina: Tell us about your business.
Kishka: I provide admin support to other small businesses such as email management, invoicing, customer service, travel assistance, etc. I am also a Notary Public and do Photo Inspections for insurance companies. I am also a board member for United Vision, Inc with is a 501(3)c non profit and I have a blog called Diary of the Hustle Queen where I interview people making the transition from corporate America to entrepreneurship. Last year, I rented my 1st rental property with the help of a property management company. I initially started doing a lot of different things with the goal of making 7 streams of income, but over time I began to focus on what makes me happy and ways I can truly help others.
Kishka: After setting up my LLC and getting my EIN, I created a FB page for my business and immediately started sharing it. I also created my web site so I could expand on business.
Bina: What are the biggest issues for running this business?
Kishka: The biggest issue I run into is finding clients. I have met people that need admin assistance but me becoming their client is usually stalled due to them being able to afford to pay someone for the work. .
Bina: What has been the most effective way of raising awareness for your business and getting new customers?
Kishka: Word of mouth is the best way for me. I have a lot of great family and friends that share my post and refer me all the time. I have had people reach out based on that.
Bina: What do you see as the future for your business?
Kishka: Each month I set monthly goals for my business, this month I want to learn a new skill for my business. I know new skills will bring new clients and that is the overall goal. Since this is my full time business I would love to continue to grow.
Bina: Running your own business can become overwhelming at times. What motivates you to keep going?
Kishka: 1. Freedom - I am able to set my own schedule and be there when my family needs me. I can come home by the time my oldest gets off the bus. 2. Stress-free life - My previous job was stressful and now I am able love what I do without any stress!
Bina: What advice would you give other aspiring entrepreneurs?
Kishka: Take your time and know what you want and your target market. We see a lot of people with their own business but some don't know how to run them. I would also say networking goes a long way. Not everyone can just up and quit their full-time so until you can, work on your business!! Having your own business is not glamorous, there are good days and bad! Trust the process!!!!!!!!!
